LA Tech Cares

We all agree a Corporate Giving Program is an important part of a company's culture. However, the opportunities to give back to the community can often times be limited due to availability of programs. ThursdayNights and City Year LA provide that opportunity.

Bring everyone in the office and come join us and other local tech companies as we transform Marvin Elementary School! Not only will your company address the immediate need of improving a local school campus, you are supporting your local, at-risk youth and helping to foster their potential in becoming our future tech and media entreprenuers, executives and investors.

We will paint, landscape and reconstruct. Dress to make a mess. It will be a work-friendly Friday where we can all gather and roll-up our sleeves, have fun and set the stage for a prosperous and meaningful year ahead for underprivileged kids in our community. Afterwards, lets all convene at the nearby restaurant where we can toast to a job well done!

Make sure to RSVP for the service day, the happy hour or both!

ABOUT CITY YEAR LOS ANGELES

City Year is a national organization founded in Boston in 1988 serving 21 communities in the U.S. and in South Africa and London. City Year unites corps members for a year of full-time service as tutors, mentors, and role models in our nation’s toughest public schools to get students back on track to graduate and succeed. Here in Los Angeles, 210 corps members are working full-time with the kids who have been identified as most likely to drop out in 17 LAUSD schools that feed into “dropout factory” high schools.

In Los Angeles, nearly 50% of students in high-poverty communities drop out of high school. Corps members give the most at-risk students the critical intervention and support they need so that they don’t become part of that statistic. Additionally, City Year LA brings together over 3,000 volunteers for days of physical service to create more vibrant learning environments for our city’s students. Check out the promo video here.

Organizer

ThursdayNights

ThursdayNights produces a calendar of monthly invitation-only events to convene the decision-makers and investors at startup and emerging growth companies from Internet, Digital Media, Software, Gaming and Mobile in the greater Los Angeles region. While building the community of Entrepreneurs, Executives and Investors in Southern California, ThursdayNights gives back to the broader community in which we work and live. Since 2006, we have connected 1,000 practitioners from nearly 400 firms and raised over $275,000 to support at risk youth in our community through the Santa Monica Boys and Girls Club and City Year Los Angeles.
